Purple Parade 2022

Another beach cleaning on 25 September 2022

Co-existing with climate change and global warming become the biggest risk faced by our world today. Just a little step taken to show our love for our motherland, HXI family spent a meaningful Saturday morning to show our little care for our beloved beach. Let’s fight for global warming and lend your hands to preserve our “already suffocating” Mother Earth.

Breakfast With Love Programme For Healthcare Workers At Ren Ci Nursing Homes

The COVID-19 pandemic has confronted the world with an unprecedented situation.  In an effort to further reduce the exposure of care homes to infection risks in the community, resident-facing staff of Ren Ci Nursing Homes at Ang Mo Kio and Bukit Batok are required to stay at designated accommodation facilities for a month during the circuit breaker period.  In the midst of a trying time, our members are coming together to give back to the community and are grateful for the opportunity to lend a hand to provide healthy vegetarian breakfast for the 170 affected staff.

Members of all ages worked in small teams to prepare the meals at home and deliver them to the two nursing homes at daybreak.  The cooks came up with an array of breakfast varieties that differs from day to day – nasi lemak, chicken rice, pasta, fried kway teow, burgers, to name but a few.  It’s indeed heart-warming to know that the staff members enjoyed the food.  Let’s unite to care.

The Purple Parade

A collaboration with SG Enable to support the event – A movement that supports the inclusion and celebrates the abilities of persons with special needs. We were a part of their contingent to march in unison to show our support.

Beach Cleaning

A meaningful Saturday morning spent in cleaning up our beloved east coast park beach. Just a little step taken to show our love for our motherland.

SG-Enable

HXI is honoured to have been given the opportunity to contribute in a small way to SG Enable, an agency dedicated to enabling persons with special needs. On 14 Dec 2019, we spent a meaningful Saturday morning at the Enabling Village, assisting and accompanying physically challenged and visually impaired visitors on a guided tour of different facilities in the village. Some of us were shown around by an ambassador of the village who is a wheelchair user suffering from cerebral palsy. He is a zestful person loaded with positive vitality that emanates from him to others around. At the end of the tour, we were treated to a beautiful impromptu rendition of 月亮代表我的心 performed by a Malay visitor who is also a wheelchair user. It was an inspiring experience learning the ways to improve social inclusion of people with special needs.

Collaboration with Mummy Yummy

24 November 2019

With the aim of contributing to the society, HXI Youth approached Mummy Yummy to help organize an event for the elderly. Held at their Tanah Merah outlet, we had 25 elderly from the neighbourhood and 40 volunteers with us that day. We had youths hosting a series of activities to engage the elderly, such as simple exercises, games and sing-along session. Afterwhich, we bonded with the elderly over lunch that was prepared by Mummy Yummy. The objective of the event is to keep elderly entertained and happy.

Batam Youth Camp

27-29 December 2019

Across the 3D2N enrichment camp, 150 youths experienced a series of fun bonding activities where many friendships were fostered. But there was a bigger purpose to the camp. It was set out to let youths discover the moral compasses within them and inculcate timeless moral values.

The theme of the camp “超越自我” was greatly emphasised through the various games, lessons, sharing sessions and a campfire. From “Understanding ourselves” to “Becoming a better version of myself” and ultimately “The world can be a better place and that starts with me”.

On the last day of the camp, there was an ending ceremony where many youths shared that they were glad to have attended the camp as they had valuable learning points and have made plans to step out of their comfort zones thereafter. Both the facilitators and participants have greatly benefited from the meaningful experience.
